Join us in honoring Black History Month with a special event featuring Curtis Wallace, a renowned African-American portrait artist with over 37 years of experience in acrylic portraiture. Originally from Flint, Michigan, and now based in Ypsilanti, Curtis has dedicated his life to creating, teaching, and preserving the beauty of authentic human expression through art.

Portrait Painting Classes

Discover the art of portrait painting with Curtis Wallace in a series of hands-on classes. No prior experience is necessary—come ready to learn, create, and be inspired.

  • Class 1: Wednesday, February 12, 5:30 PM - 7:30 PM
  • Class 2: Wednesday, February 19, 5:30 PM - 7:30 PM
  • Class 3: Wednesday, February 26, 5:30 PM - 7:30 PM

You can sign up for one class, two classes, or attend all three to deepen your skills and explore different techniques. **YOU DO NOT NEED TO ATTEND CLASSES IN ANY ORDER**

About Curtis Wallace

Curtis Wallace is a Black American portrait artist with over 37 years of experience in acrylic painting. Originally from Flint, Michigan, and now based in Ypsilanti, Curtis’s journey has been a tapestry of art, education, and community service. His work integrates art into childcare, technology, and special education, bringing creativity to diverse learning environments.

Curtis’s passion lies in capturing the emotions and essence of people through portraits. His work includes workshops, community murals, art installations, and live painting events worldwide—both in person and online. Curtis is driven by the belief that art has the power to connect people and preserve authentic expressions.
