It’s January 15, marking the midpoint of the first month in the new year. I appreciate the significance of these moments, where we embark on new years, new months, and even new days with a clean slate. The beauty lies in the potential for anything to happen and for positive changes to unfold. In 2024, Downtown Saline is poised for significant developments, and our commitment is to keep you informed as these changes take place.
Saline Main Street is initiating the new year with fresh Transformation Strategies that will guide all our activities, ensuring we stay aligned with our goals. The strategies adopted in 2017 served us well, but the world, including Saline, has undergone profound changes since then. From navigating a pandemic to the creation of Umbrella Square, we brought our community together. This realization fueled our mission to establish a safer, more accessible community gathering space, providing compelling reasons for people to visit downtown Saline, and celebrating the sense of community we hold dear.

The new transformation strategies are designed to concentrate our efforts on fostering economic development in downtown, addressing vacancies, creating an enhanced community gathering space, and ensuring that everyone who comes to Saline discovers their community here.
A lot is going on in January, from Downtown participating in “Tackling Hunger” sponsored by the First Presbyterian Church, free retail merchandising webinars, and all the planning that starts this month - Salty Summer Sounds, a new Golf Outing, and fundraising to get The 109 up to code, it is going to be a busy month.
Additionally, this month marks the welcoming of new City Council Members, Chuck Lesch and Jen Harmont, and the addition of new Saline Main Street Board Members, Lindsay and Bill Gibson of Fine Print Bookshop. These new beginnings signal a promising trajectory for our community, and we look forward to the positive impact they will bring.
